Start with a tour of the ruins of Pompeii, a bustling seaside city which was buried underneath 13-20 ft (4 to 6 m) of ash and volcanic debris after the 79 CE eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The ash, which killed many of the city's residents, acted as an archaeological time capsule by preserving many of the city's original buildings and features completely intact.m The walking tour of Pompeii's ancient streets will show off an astonishing number of preserved villas, shops, public buildings, and plazas. You will be transferred privately to Naples Railway Station to board train to Florence. Meet the driver at Florence Railway Station and transfer to hotel. A driver with your name on a sign meets you at the airport and takes you to your hotel. After you freshen up, you're driven to Piazza Navona to meet your guide for a walking tour. It covers St. Ignatius Church, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.

Day 2 is a guided tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. It's a full day, so wear comfortable shoes.

After lunch you go up Mount Vesuvius, where the trails at the top give views into the crater and across the Tyrrhenian Sea.

On Day 6 you take a train from Naples, and a guide meets you for a private tour that includes the Accademia Museum, the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio and Santa Croce from the outside. Day 7 is a trip to Siena, San Gimignano and the Chianti area, with a guided walk through Siena and a three-course Tuscan lunch at a winery or local restaurant.

On Day 8 you drive from Florence, check in, and have a free afternoon followed by a Venetian dinner at a local restaurant. Day 9 is a guided city tour with St. Mark's Square, St. Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace and a glassblowing demonstration. A 30-minute gondola ride on the Grand Canal is offered as an option in the evening.
